SurfScan OpenWRT Setup and Onboarding
Introduction
This guide provides step by step instructions for installing the SurfScan application on your OpenWRT based router. Once complete, your device will be ready to analyze mobile networks.
Supported Devices
Gl.iNet Puli AX 5G Router (XE3000) w/battery power.
Gl.iNet Spitz AX 5G Router (X3000)
Pre-requisites
Compatible OpenWRT based 5G device
Internet connection
SIM card with active subscription (optional)
Ethernet
Download SurfScan Android App 1.2.0
Download SurfScan OpenWRT Package version 1.0.2
SurfScore.live account and subscription with available device slots (contact your admin or support@waveriders.live with questions)
Preparing your Router
New Devices
Complete initial setup of your router.
Installl a hotspot SIM card with active subscription, and/or connect Ethernet WAN to your network.
Power on
Connect to Wi-Fi (factory set security key on router label)
Set password
Configure Wi-Fi SSID & Security
Re-connect to updated Wi-Fi
Open a web browser and connect to router admin. Default IP http://192.168.8.1
Enter updated password
All Devices
Navigate to System > Upgrade

Gl.iNet Admin > System > Upgrade
Upgrade to latest version if available.
Navigate to System > Advanced

Gl.iNet Admin > System > Advanced Settings > Install LuCI
‘Install Now’ if prompted.

Gl.iNet Admin > System > Advanced Settings > Go To LuCI
Click ‘Go To Luci’ and enter your password at the prompt.
Navigate to System > Software

LuCI Admin > System > Software
Click ‘Upload Package’ and select the SurfScan OpenWRT package. Click ‘Upload’, then ‘Install’

LuCI Admin > System > Software > Upload SurfScan Package
Once installation completes you should a success message like the one in the screenshot below

LuCI Admin > System > Software > Executing Package Manager > Success
Your OpenWRT router is now ready to be activated.
SurfScan Android Application
Once the SurfScan application is installed on your Android device, connect to the Wi-Fi of your Open WRT router.
Open the SurfScan app, login at the prompt with your SurfScore account details.

SurfScan OpenWRT > Login
Once logged in, Sselect ‘SurfScan OpenWRT’ from the main menu.

Enter your router password

SurfScan OpenWRT > Router Login
The SurfScan app will now check the claim status of your router.
Activate a SurfScan OpenWRT device
Enter a memorable name for the device and ‘Claim Device’

SurfScan OpenWRT > Claim Device
Upon success you will be redirected to the scan page. Once scans are completed and sync’d to the SurfScore cloud, view results at surfscore.live.
